The popular state of New Jersey sits in the
Mid-Atlantic region of America and part of it is bordered by the
Atlantic Ocean. The state is very close to Philadelphia and New
York City and is actually the most densely populated in the
nation.
The region was inhabited by Native Americans for
a few thousand years and the Europeans found it in the early
1600s. The British then took control of the area and it saw many
historical battles in the American Revolutionary War. It became
the third state admitted to the Union back in 1787 and is now
the 11th most populated state in America with about nine million
people, but is the fourth-smallest state in size.
Trenton is the capital while Newark is the
largest city. Some of the other major cities include Atlantic
City, Trenton, Asbury Park, Jersey City, Hoboken, Edison, Union
City, Passaic, Woodbridge, Bayonne, Camden, Harrison, Cherry
Hill, Elizabeth, and Paterson. The climate in New Jersey sees
hot and humid summers along with cold winters.
Getting into the state and driving around can
sometimes get quite busy as the famous New Jersey Turnpike is
one of busiest highways in America. New Jersey and New York City
are connected by several tunnels and bridges, including the
George Washington Bridge, which is the busiest in the world. If
you’re flying in, Newark is the main airport, and you can also
fly into New York City. There’s also an extensive bus and rail
and bus service in the state and a subway system in Newark.
Getting to all of the major cities in the area like New York and
Philadelphia is easy by train and ferry.
If you’d like to study some art, history and
culture of the area make sure you visit the Newark Museum as it
also houses an extensive fine art collection. In Jersey City,
you’ll find biking and hiking trails along with Liberty State
Park, which is where the Liberty Science Center is located.
Other museums to visit are the Maywood Station, the Montclair
Art, the Morris, and Thomas Edison Museums.
If you’re more of a sea and sand lover, there
are numerous piers, theme parks, amusement parks, beaches, and
boardwalks to visit. The most famous of these is are the
boardwalks in Ocean City and Atlantic City, where you can also
visit many legalized-gambling casinos in the latter to try your
luck and take in a show featuring world-class entertainers.
When you’re in the mood for a quieter and more
relaxed shoreline, you can try the serenity of Sunset Beach,
which is situated in Cape May. Over in Asbury Park there’s a
pretty good arts scene and the town has also been made famous by
hometown rock singer Bruce Springsteen.
In the historic capital city of Trenton, you can
visit the site where George Washington enjoyed his first
victory. You can also enjoy skiing in the Skylands and hiking in
the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Beach Island, Barnegat Lighthouse, New Jersey Pinelands National
Reserve, the Delaware National Scenic River, Ellis Island

Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, the New Jersey Coastal
Heritage Trail Route, New Jersey Meadowlands, the Appalachian
National Scenic Trail, South Mountain, and Pine Barrens.
For sports lovers, a vacation in New Jersey is
paradise as the state has its own professional NHL, NFL, NBA,
and MLS teams and many fans head over to New York, Philadelphia,
Boston, and Baltimore if they get need to satisfy their fix for
major sporting events. There are also collegiate sports and
several minor league teams in New Jersey, especially baseball.

New Jersey has a lot to offer when you consider
